Who are you?

I’m Joe Kopacz.

What do you do?

Lots of things. I play music. I drink tea. I read. From time to time, I travel. Lots of other things, too.

So what do you want to do with your life?

Be awesome, of course….

In all seriousness though, I am just beginning a career with Exelon on the generation side of things at Dresden Generating Station. I’ve enjoyed the time I’ve spent in internships and positions related to energy generation, industrial and building energy efficiency, and facilities management. I like working in teams with people on projects, but I also really like going off by myself to work alone. Check out more about that in my “Hire Me” Page.

Aside from work, I want to play music! I like playing in the Big River Brass Band, the St. John Vianney Brass Ensemble, and other groups when the option arises.

Other than that, I like food. I like travelling, I like reading. I like tea. There you go.

What kind of music do you like?

I play the euphonium and piano. If you hire me, I’ll play whatever you want me to. If I’m playing for myself, I like the classics: Beethoven, Bach, Brahms, etc.

I listen to just about anything, but I’m quite partial to metal, especially Metallica, The Sword, and Dream Theater. I also like listening to just about any classical music. I’m an avid supporter of my local NPR station, WBEZ, out of Chicago, IL.

What’s your favorite kind of tea?

I’m so very glad you’re interested! Green or white. I like hot tea the best. I buy loose leaf. I’m quite partial to the fine products put out by Adagio Teas and Intelligencia. If you come visit me wherever I may be living, I’ll likely offer you some.

What do you read?

Oh, lots of different things. I like science fiction and fantasy. I’m currently waiting on GRRM to finish The Winds of Winter so I can read it. I tend to read things as people recommend them to me, so if you’ve got a book that you really like that you think I should read, let me know.
