Background
I really like pizza. I don’t like how good pizza is really expensive. I decided to try to make a pan pizza at home with my 10-inch cast iron skillet.
When
The dough was made and left to rest overnight on June 15, 2016. The pizza was assembled, baked, and eaten the following afternoon.
Recipes
This specific dough recipe is the no-knead focaccia bread which can be found on Budget Bytes. I really like this website. The person who puts the website together estimates the cost per recipe and serving and gives solid step-by-step instructions and photos for each of the recipes she posts. I enjoy the fact that most of the recipes I’ve tried on this website I’ve liked and done more than once. Seriously, check it out.
I used a squeezable store-bought sauce and a shredded Italian Cheese Blend. Toppings included mushrooms, bell pepper, kalamata olives, and pepperoncini.
Result
This Pizza was good. The dough was easy to put together. One of the great things about this dough, in fact, is that you simply mix all the ingredients together and let them sit overnight. It is then ready to form into the skillet the following day to make tasty pizza.
However, the crust was not as crispy as I would have liked it to be. Still, a solid recipe. If you’d like to try it, make sure to scale the dough recipe for the size pan you are going to use.
